Mike Service will be opening his studio doors at 6 The Firs for the Combe Down Art Trail on the 9th and 10th of September. Mike varies his painting approach, from sweeping brushstrokes to thickly applied paint with a palette knife. His expressive paintings convey place and capture the senses; his seascapes evoke the elements while his still life paintings are more reflective. A prolific artist, it will be a treat to see the man at work. To find out more about Mike, click here.
Our featured artist is prolific painter, Mary Liddell. Mary likes to work 'alla prima', meaning 'at once' where each paint-stroke is applied and ideally left untouched. It gives her work a loose and instant appeal and keeps the vibrant colours she uses pure. Mary will be exhibiting her paintings - from landscapes to still life - at The Cornerstone on Combe Road on the 9th and 10th of September as part of the 2017 Combe Down Art Trail.
