The weather is set to be sunny and dry, perfect for following the map and the red lanterns outside each venue and discover what each one has in store... Don't forget your chequebook as not all artists have mobile banking. And if you want to share your experience of the Trail, use the hashtag #cdarttrail on Instagram, twitter and facebook. Here's to a fabulous weekend full of inspiration. We look forward to seeing you! Thank you to our sponsors and all the venues who've lent us their premises for the Trail weekend!

With the summer upon us, it's time to take a closer look at each venue on this year's Combe Down Art Trail. Every Friday in the lead up to the Trail (that is taking place on Saturday 7th - Sunday 8th September, 10am - 5pm) we'll be giving a taster of what to expect. So let's kick things off with venue 1, the Hub! Animation workshop. Saturday and Sunday, 10am - 12pm and 2pm - 4pm Music workshop. Drop in sessions on Saturday and Sunday, 2pm - 4pm While the Art Trail volunteers are getting things ready for the Combe Down Art Trail on Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th September - including the rather lovely flyer designed by Steve Wells - we wanted to celebrate another success story by one of our artists. For the second year running, Sally Muir has had a painting accepted into the prestigious Royal Academy of Arts Summer Exhibition in London! Not only is her dog painting hanging on the esteemed walls of this fantastic gallery, it was also picked out by presenter Kirsty Wark on the BBC documentary about the exhibition!! We couldn't be prouder of Sally. The exhibition runs until 12th August 2019. If you're an artist with a connection to Combe Down and you'd like to take part in our 2019 Art Trail on Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th September, you only have ten day left to apply!
The Trail is shaping up to be an exciting event! Currently there are thirteen venues to visit, including artists' homes and studios, as well as public venues like the Hub, the King William IV, and the Museum of Bath Stone. With forty artists taking part already, there will be a wide range of artwork for sale, such as jewellery, ceramics, oil paintings, watercolours, textiles, and glassware. There are also plenty of workshops and demonstrations to get visitors involved in all the arts, including animation workshops, music workshops, clay-throwing demonstrations, and flower crown making. And not forgetting the children's competition! With over 600 visitors to last year's Trail, and with so much going on this year, the Combe Down Art Trail is a fantastic event to be part of. Get those submissions forms in so you or someone you know can be involved too! |
