Public Venues and Submissions

With the 1st June closing date for artist submissions only two months away, here's a reminder of what you need to do to take part as well as a list of our latest public venues. Do pass on this information to anyone you think might be interested, but priority will be given to artists living or working in the Combe Down area, including artists whose families live in Combe Down.

SUBMISSIONS
If you already know you want to take part in this year's trail, firstly, yay! Secondly, please return your submission form, sample images and £35 submission fee as soon as you can, particularly if you are wanting to exhibit in one of the public spaces listed below.

PUBLIC VENUES
If you don’t yet have a venue in Combe Down but would like to take part in this year’s trail (which will be held on Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th September 2019) there are currently three public spaces you might like to consider:

​The Museum of Bath Stone
For the past two years, the Museum of Bath Stone (Cornerstone) has been a successful venue. It is wheelchair accessible and can house up to six artists. The museum has a picture hanging system already in place on panels so is ideal for painters. A limited number of tables can also be used.

​The King William IV
The King William IV pub has also been another great venue in the last two trails, full of lively chat and refreshments. There is no hanging space available on walls but tables are available and artists can bring along their own easels, display boards, and card racks. The pub can comfortably accommodate five artists. There is also the attached skittle alley but this has already been booked.

The Hub
A new venue for this year is The Hub in Mulberry Park, another wheelchair accessible site. We have been offered the use of the whole ground floor – the ground floor room will be opened up into the café area. This is a good, light and airy space that can accommodate several artists, possibly as many as ten. Like the King William, there is no hanging space available on walls so again tables can be set up. Artists would be responsible for bringing in their own easels or anything that would easily display their work.

​For all these public venues, setting up would need to take place on Saturday 7th before the 10am start to the trail. Artists are responsible for setting up their work and looking after their display. All three venues are locked and secure overnight so work can be left, but it is a good idea not to leave money overnight. Work must be taken away immediately after the trail finishes at 5pm on Sunday 8th.
